Why see a Physical Therapist for an initial injury screening?

Physical therapists are musculoskeletal experts trained in the evaluation and treatment of joint and muscle injuries.  They are trained to perform special tests to injured areas to determine both the nature and severity of the problem.  They also know how to spot “red flags” or complications that may be in need of further diagnostic testing or medical care.    Professional and college athletes depend on athletic trainers to quickly respond to their injuries on the field.  Now you can depend on your physical therapist to offer the same.  Same day appointments often available.  Quick feedback on what is wrong.  And immediate advice on what to do.  Our experts will tell you how to get Your Body.  Better.

arrow Common questions regarding free injury screens

Do you offer free injury screens on the weekends?

Injury screens are available during clinic hours Monday through Friday.  If you are a member of our concierge physical therapy program, you may contact your therapist directly during evening or weekend hours to determine if a consultation is needed.  Coaches or members of sports teams may contact our office to discuss availability during specific sports seasons.

Does the free injury screen include any treatment for my injury?

The purpose of the injury screen is to give you medical advice on proper injury treatments based on your specific injury.  If we believe that immediate physical therapy treatment is appropriate, these services will be offered to you.  Treatments are not included in the free 15 minute injury screen, but we will discuss your ability to use health insurance or our cash pay programs in these cases.  In many instances physical therapy can be started immediately and is covered by your health insurance.

What if I need to see a doctor?

If our experts feel that your injury requires further medical testing or care, we will work with you to find the right doctor for your needs.  If you have a physician, we will communicate with their office regarding our findings and concerns.  If you do not have a physician, we have several offices in the area that we work closely with.  We would be happy to offer you a referral to a local specialist.

Do I need an appointment for an injury screen?

Appointments are highly recommended so that our physical therapists will be able to devote their time and attention to your injury.  Same day injury screening appointments are usually available at our Scottsdale, Arizona physical therapy office.  Call (480) 661-1124 to schedule your free injury screening appointment today.

**Please note that free injury screens are not meant to replace emergency medical treatment.  If you have significant bleeding or trauma or suspect a fracture, please call 911 or seek immediate medical treatment at a local emergency room or urgent care facility.
